Special Olympics

Skating- Students are bussed to the skating rink. This event is scheduled every other month. Students are provided with skates upon arrival and are provided training by teachers and para-educators on how to skate. For students who are already able to skate they participate in races and general skating activities to improve skills. The students are then bussed back to school.

Bowling- Bowing is scheduled every other month. Students are bussed to the bowling alley. Students are provided training on appropriate bowling styles and the lanes are modified with ramps purchased by Special Olympics as needed depending on skill level. Students participate in bowling competitions and are bussed back to the schools.

Basketball- Basketball is an event provided for two days during the spring semester. Elementary students are broken into groups and provided drill to improve basketball skills such as dribbling, passing, and shooting. Students are timed and accuracy of skills is recorded. Middle and high school students participate in the same drills as elementary students with times recorded and are also broken into teams to play scrimmage games. Students are then bussed back to the schools.
